2 men shot during Auburn home invasion; 2 suspects at large

AUBURN, Wash. - Two men were seriously injured by gunfire as armed men stormed a home in an upscale Auburn neighborhood overnight, police said.
The drama began at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday as three men forced their way into a house in the 60oo block of South 298th Place and shot two men who were living there.
Officers are questioning a 38-year-old Seattle man who was taken into a custody shortly afterward, but two others got away after the break-in.
Police say the three intruders targeted this home specifically - but they're not sure why, and they're still trying to figure out exactly what happened during the home invasion.
One of the three attackers was armed with a shotgun, and another had a handgun when they broke into the home, police said.
Four or five people were inside the home when the men forced their way inside, and the suspects shot two of them.
When police arrived soon afterward, they found one victim in an upstairs bedroom shot in the arm. He had also been beaten up.
The other victim was shot in the leg, but he escaped out a window and ran down the street, bleeding, and knocked on the door of a neighbor's home for help.
As officers and medics were working on the victims at the two locations, officers noticed a man running up the street. That man was questioned, and when his story didn't add up, he was taken into custody.
One weapon - a shotgun or long gun - was also found under a car parked nearby.
Two of the intruders got away. No description of those suspects was immediately available.
Police believe this was not a random act, and that the suspects chose that particular house, but they do not know why. So far they can't find anything missing in the house and there is no obvious reason for the break-in.
A search warrant will be served later to aid in the investigation.
Both gunshot victims remain in serious condition at the hospital. Police were unable to question them because of the severity of their injuries.

Come on Man!!!!!
I'd hope that the guy who was caught will rat out his buddies or will somehow lead police to the others responsible for this crime.
Â
If I were a betting man, I'd say that this was a collection attempt of some sort. Â I've seen this sort of thing happen - especially in certain groups of people. Â That explains why the guy was beat up - it's something personal.
Guns are not the problem. Problem: people who choose to break the law and try to live for free and steal our hard-earned items. Hope they catch the other perps quickly.
The US suffers from a gun rights disease which allows ANYONE to get guns. The worse part is there is no cure for our disease, and those with the sickness will do and say anything to defend the "no limits" right to own guns, regardless of the daily killings.
The US suffers from an uninformed hysteria disease. There are limits and not ANYONE can legally get a gun. The majority of violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders. They should not be out on the street after one violent crime that way they would not be able to repeat offend.
@Socialjusticeforall The real disease comes from the left-wingers who have this grand delusion that if we take all the guns off the streets, criminals will go away.
Â
The fact is, when a homeowner is armed, they put criminals out of commission. Â If the bad guys knew that the good guys were armed to the teeth, it would keep more of them in check.
@JoeKing Each time there is a weapons related news story, SJFA comes out spouting about gun disease. Unfortunately no matter what anyones opinion is that differs from theirs, SJFA will continue to state the same undocumented speech.
Â
Gun control may be part of a solution but moreover weapon education is required beyond anything else. Perhaps adding psychological testing but even that is 50/50 as a mental disorder can be dormant until much later in life.
Yup, its the guns fault.
@OneLegManDancing Only if it was a Walther P-38 pistol and turned into a robot, perhaps.
@Socialjusticeforall Get a clue.  Criminals do not follow the law.  Have any kind of law you can dream up, including the total ban on weapons for civilians, and guess what, the CRIMINALS will still get their hands on weapons.  Take away gun rights for those who follow the law just increased the number of victims in society
@S4tran @Socialjusticeforall I think you need to see both sides of the story. Socialjustice is correct, and so are you. Btw, I am a gun owner myself.

Criminals for gun control
@choliscott  Great video!!! I'm going to show this one at my next Neighborhood Watch meeting :o) Thanks for sharing!!!
Lots of these recent home invasions are targeting home-dope-growing operations. Sometimes this happens because the grower sells to a neighbor or has people come to their home to buy. But it's also happening because the dirtbags check your electrical meter to see if it's spinning more than most homes.
Home owners should be required to have on hand body bags for the home invasion guests so when they leave the property they're taken care of properly...............
I can't help but notice the picture of the cop.
He looks pissed.
@mstipton LOL!!!! I noticed that too! He looks like he's doing a scene in a movie or cop drama TV show.
There has never been a problem in this tiny neighborhood. Â The home owner is the problem by renting to these idiots.
Cindertag, yes I could and would. When a stranger is in your home you have no idea if they are just there for your possessions or are certifiable psycho. Your responsibility is to protect yourself and your family. If they break in...it's on them.
@lin cindertag also said--what happens if he wakes up disoriented and can't make the call that his home is really being broken into? What if he shoots a family member by mistake?
Â
I'm all for protecting myself and my family with lethal force, but unless you're trained to go from REM to wide awake and functional (like the military) instantly, you're going to have some disorientation. What if you shoot your little girl or your wife?
Â
I think I could respond, but I know my capabilities enough to say I'd need a minute, so I'd need some kind of hardened door, and alarm system to give me warning and wake me up, and maybe allow me to get my kids out of the line of fire, into a safe room.
@chandler @lin  None of the mass shootings have ever occurred at a NRA Convention because the perp knows that the second he pulls out his gun and shoots there will be a dozen guns pointing back at him. That is the only gun control that works.
"The other suspect was shot in the leg,..." -- I'm going to presume they really meant "the other victim".
If the victims' behaviors & actions encouraged the attack, hopefully they will learn from their mistakes & change their behaviors after a full recovery. And hopefully the suspects will be apprehended soon.
@katiemcc Hopefully the victims are evicted from the premises.
@y If they aren't renters who's going to evict them (as long as they are paying the mortgage)?
I have a question for all of you gun owners out there . If some one were to break in your house could you, would you shoot them? I myself have several guns , At night one sits next to my head the others are in a gun safe. I am asking because if some one broke in while i was a sleep I most likely would not wake up in time to make the decision my house is being broken into. As there are people other then me living here, so possibly shooting one of them is a very scary thought. Plus if I heard police being yelled and the door gets kicked in, I am going to grab my gun because whose to say its really the police? ( all of my guns are legal and I have a concealed pistol permit) My point is having doubt is can be a good thing, but then again hesitating can and will cost you your life.m So could you, would you?
@Cindertang I think an Early Warning System would be in order such as a dog, motion sensor lighting and alarms/horns placed around the OUTSIDE and on the inside of the house along with a CCTV system. If you can be tipped off before the zombies kick your bedroom door down, you will have more time to make critical life/death decisions. There are lots of products out there that can slow the zombies down before they get to you. Security is most effective when there are "layers" of security between you and the zombies.  Do some research and obtain the protective "layers" you need to win the war. Â
@TreeTopFlyer Excellent suggestions, I would only add one thing, there are pressure sensitive devices you can place under mats or stairs to warn you when a certain amount of weight is on them(so dogs and cats don't set them off.) These can activate audio or visual warning,(strobe if you like) A low cost warning system can involve dried blackberry stalks. Once they have dried out, when they are walked on they make a heck of a racket. I heard some cracking, activated the laser sight, the drunk people said don't shoot, don't shoot and they went away. No Invasion, no injuries.
@Cindertang My thought is: If you don't know the gun laws, then you don't have any business owning (and particularly carrying) a gun. For the short term, bang away at an intruder. The key phrase to remember when you are being interrogated by the police and later when you are in court is that, you felt your life was in danger. You cannot shoot merely to protect property.Â
Home invasions all need to carry 20 years hard time as a minimum, with an automatic life sentence if a single shot is fired. This needs to be stopped.
@eichler34 Sounds good. Will you be paying for the larger, newer prison facilities to house these people as the current buildings are apparently bursting at the seams. There is no fear of the law any longer to keep people from breaking the law.
@DarkRenegade  @eichler34 If they stopped locking up petty drug offenders they would not be so full.Â
@DarkRenegade  @eichler34 That's why we need to actually starting executing people for murdering people (in a timely manner).Â
@eichler34 Yep. And if you kill anyone, they need be sitting on old sparky in a timely manner. Limit appeals. Death via firing squad, etc. within 2 years of committing the crime.Â
Yike! Let's get a description of the 'at large' suspects- GAD!
Ummm... yikes!!! How traumatic. Praying for the victims.
Upscale or not it was either over drugs or a girl, my vote is on drugs.Â
 @Kodiak Yep.Â
More Puget Sound Gun violence, an everyday occurance.
@Commonsense Yes, another great reason to keep guns legal. To protect ourselves from the bad guys.
Seems to me the victims should have been properly armed to defend themselves.
@Commonsense Japete - is that you?
