2 people shocked by power lines after pickup hits utility pole

ARLINGTON, Wash. - Two people sustained injuries and electrical shocks when the pickup they were riding in slammed into a utility pole Monday night east of Arlington, officials said.

Firefighters and deputies responded to the scene, in the 31600 block of Swede Heaven Road, at about 8 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a crash.

The driver and a passenger in the pickup were found at the scene and taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Power lines were knocked down in the crash, and a fire official at the scene said the two occupants of the pickup were shocked by the downed lines when they got out of the pickup after the crash.

The names and ages of the two were not immediately available. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
