SEATTLE - Neighbors remembered the woman stabbed to death Friday evening in a Central District apartment as a person who loved animals and enjoyed receiving flowers.
"She was a caring person in her heart," neighbor Gail Williams-Cyprian said Saturday.
The fatal stabbing was reported around 9 p.m. Friday, Seattle police said.
Police were called by a man who said he had hurt someone inside his apartment at 2100 S. Main Street, a police spokeswoman said.
The man was there when officers, with guns drawn, entered the second-floor apartment unit, where they found the body of the woman. Investigators said she had obvious stab wounds.
Seattle firefighters pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The man was arrested and and booked into the King County jail for investigation of murder early Saturday. Police did not release any motive for the killing.
The woman and the man are believed to have been domestic partners, police said.
John Cyprian, Gail's husband, described the man and woman as "quiet" and said they had moved to Seattle from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
"I've never heard those guys argue or fuss," he said. "That's what's so shocking about it, it's hard to believe."
