FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Police here have arrested an Auburn man they say was responsible for a shooting that left a man dead and another wounded early Friday morning.
Aliaksandr Rashchuk, 20, of Auburn, was expected to be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder in the shooting at the Park at Dash Point Apartments. Police were called to the apartment complex on 50th Lane Southwest about 1 a.m. and found a 25-year-old man who had been fatally shot in the parking lot. A 22-year-old man who was also shot was located at Auburn General Hospital, apparently having been dropped off after the shooting. He was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was listed in serious condition. Detectives spent the day interviewing people in the area and collecting evidence, but did not say exactly what led them to Rashchuk. He was interviewed at the Federal Way police station before being transferred to jail. Police said initial reports that three or four people fled the scene after the shooting were in error, and that no more suspects are being sought. Three guns were found at the scene and one vehicle has been impounded as evidence. Officials said the victims and gunman were part of a group of about 15 people that were in the parking lot when an argument escalated into gunfire. It was not clear if the gunman knew the men who were shot, and the name of the man who was killed has not been released. |
