PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. -- Price Miller Jr. sat in court on Friday and listened as even those who had initially insisted on his innocence denounced him.

The former boy scout leader pleaded guilty to committing sex crimes against two young boys.

In one of the cases Miller, 61, raped and sodomized a neighbor boy starting at the age of 7, according to court documents. The abuse lasted 8 years and included a suicide pact if they were ever found out.

The abuse ended when the alleged victim turned 15 and told a counselor about the relationship.

Miller's was a crime that sent shock waves through the scouting community. He had worked as an assistant with Troop 47 based at Fircrest United Methodist Church.

The two victims were not boy scouts; however, after the allegations surfaced several scout members came forward, claiming he had been sexual with them, too. Many more claimed they had been duped by a trusted member of their community.

"It's very tough. He was a friend and kind of used me just like he used the scouts," said scoutmaster Randy Unruh.

When allegations first surfaced two years ago, Unruh told KOMO News he couldn't believe the allegations.

"We still don't feel that scouts was his... he wasn't attracted to scouts for the business of molesting kids," Unruh said in 2006. "I may be proven wrong but I don't think so."

But since then at least five scouts and former scouts have come forward claiming they, too, had been abused. Some claimed the abuse took place at Miller's 60-acre ranch near Eatonville, which included a cave.

Unruh said Miller hosted dozens of Boy Scout campouts. Detectives searched the place inside and out, looking for clues and possible buried evidence.

"We were aware of the cave just recently," he said in 2006.

Unruh now wants to set the record straight.

"The monster that I didn't think he was, he is," he said. "Tough to come to that realization. It took me a long time."

The victims, their families and their supporters were all present to speak in court at what was supposed to be Miller's sentencing, which was rescheduled to Aug. 25.

Miller's plea agreement only lists two victims, but it is believed Miller will get a sentence that will keep him locked up for the rest of his life.
