Tacoma man killed in boat accident at Banks Lake

By Associated Press

GRAND COULEE, Wash. (AP) - A personal water craft collided with a boat pulling an inner tube on Eastern Washington's Banks Lake, killing one man and injuring several others.

The Grant County sheriff's office says the collision occurred Friday morning at the north end of the lake near Steamboat Rock State Park, south of Grand Coulee.

Witnesses say a personal water craft struck a boat pulling an inner tube with three riders. The sheriff's office says the driver of the water craft, Victor Prokhor of the Tacoma area, died after the crash, while his wife, Olga, was in serious but stable condition at Community Hospital in Grand Coulee.

The collision ejected three young children and a 16-year-old girl from the boat. All were wearing life jackets and were treated for minor injuries.
