WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - A Yahoo executive says the Internet company would like to build a data center in the Wenatchee area, if the state Legislature approves a tax break.
The Yahoo vice president of operations, Kevin Timmons, says the company has scouted land for a facility similar to the company's data center in Quincy.
State Rep. Mike Armstrong of Wenatchee says he's encouraging Yahoo, Microsoft and Google to present a single voice to the Legislature, and he believes it would support incentives to build in rural areas.
A bill that would have cut sales taxes for computer data centers failed in the last session.
