SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) - A dump truck driver who couldn't wait to relieve himself is being blamed for losing his load.

When the 27-year-old Auburn man tried to ease the double-trailer rig to the side of U.S. Highway 2 east of Snohomish, the wheels slipped down an embankment.

Traffic was snarled for hours Friday morning after the truck spilled 98,000 pounds of dredge spoils from Anacortes, bound for a landfill in Wenatchee.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith A. Leary says the driver apparently was unfamiliar with the area. A few miles to the east there are plenty of filling stations and other businesses with restrooms.

The driver was cited for driving with wheels off the road, and Leary says the trucking company will be billed for the cleanup.
