Police: Woman intentionally walked in front of train
PUYALLUP - A woman was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train as it passed through downtown Puyallup on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The woman was walking near the intersection of Meridian and Stewart Avenue when she was hit by the train, at about 3 p.m., said Lt. Dave MacDonald of the Puyallup police. She died at the scene.
MacDonald said a preliminary investigation has determined that the woman intentionally walked in front of the train.
He said witnesses who observed her behavior just before the impact said it appeared her actions were deliberate.
