1 dead, 1 injured in Hwy. 2 collision
SULTAN, Wash. - A 32-year-old Monroe man was killed when the car he was driving collided head-on with a GMC pickup on Highway 2 late Friday.
Washington State Patrol troopers who responded to the scene said Antonio A. Miranda, 32, was heading west on Highway 2 in a 1987 Acura Integra when he drifted across the centerline.
His car sideswiped a 2005 Hyundai Tucson with three occupants near the western Sultan city limits at about 10:30 p.m., then crashed head-on into the GMC pickup.
Miranda was declared dead at the accident scene.
The 60-year-old driver of the pickup was transported to Valley General Hospital for treatment of injuries. None of the occupants of the Hyundai were hurt.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
