EUGENE, Ore. -- Fire crews are working to put out a fire Sunday afternoon started in a barn filled with around 400 tons of hay in the rural area west of Eugene.

Lane Fire Authority Chief Chris Heppel said there were no injuries reported.

Fire crews were called out to the blaze off of Bodenhamer Road at around 11:20 a.m. Sunday. Crews arrived to find a barn filled with hay engulfed in flames.

No one was home when the fire started inside the 120 square-foot barn. Crews haven't yet determined what caused the fire.

Heppel said the approximately 400 tons of hay stored in the barn would have been worth $60-80,000 at market.

Crews are working to protect nearby structures, but Chief Heppel said they are going to let the barn burn itself out.
