Spokane Meals on Wheels hit by thefts
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Two former employees of the Spokane Mid-City Concerns' Meals on Wheels program have been accused of taking more than $80,000 in donations.
Theft charges were filed this week against the former director, Cheri Mataya-Muncton, and an employee, Rachelle Solomon.
Investigators say they took money intended to feed low-income residents and spent it on lunches, Victoria's Secret shopping sprees, computer equipment, furniture and a Florida vacation.
Board member Nicole Tedrow told police that Mataya-Muncton sent an e-mail to board members apologizing for making bad decisions.
