MILL CREEK, Wash. (AP) - Two orphan bear cubs caught at a campground are being raised by a Lynnwood animal shelter.

State wildlife agents easily captured the cubs Monday night by leaving out doughnuts, which brought them down from a tree at the Denny Creek campground near Snoqualmie Pass. The mother had been struck by a car Saturday and killed.

The cubs were transferred to the PAWS shelter where they will spend up to a year in rehab and isolation so they can be released into the wild. A veterinarian says the 40-pound male and 25-year-old female were uninjured, but hungry.

Wildlife agent Kim Chandler says the problem was caused by people at the campground leaving unsecured food that attracted bears.
