Body dumped from car had been strangled

SEATTLE - The King County Medical Examiner's office says a man whose body was pushed from a car in South Seattle had been strangled.

Gary M. Seaman, 61, was found dead at 9th Avenue South and South Dakota Street on Thursday after witnesses reported seeing his body dumped from a black Kia sedan.

Police arrested the driver and owner of the car, 27-year-old Gabriel Phipps, of Shoreline, and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of homicide.

Police spokeswoman Rene Witt said Phipps was an acquaintance of Seaman, but she would not comment on a possible motive for the killing.

Miquel Saucedo, who works nearby, said it appeared the man had intravenous tubes in his body.

"Shocking, shocking. I've never seen anything like that over there," he said.
