Climber found dead near Snoqualmie Pass identified
SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. -- A 46-year-old Sammamish man found dead Tuesday after failing to return home from a climbing trip has been identified.
King County sheriff spokesman John Urquhart said it appears Oded Schramm was killed in a fall east of Guye Peak.
Schramm's wife told deputies that her husband was an experienced hiker and was in the area Monday to go climbing. She called the sheriff's office Monday night when he did not come home on time.
Deputies found the man's car at the Alpental's Snow Lake Trailhead, and the sheriff department's helicopter spotted him in a gully early Tuesday morning.
Ground searchers reached him about 30 minutes later, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
