PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. -- Amanda Schroeder, who is accused crashing while driving drunk and killing two people, has reached a plea deal that significantly reduced her charges.

In court on Monday Schroeder pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence and possession of alcohol as a minor.

She had previously pleaded no guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide in connection to a June 2007 crash. Prosecutors said Schroeder, then 20, crashed into a car carrying sisters Tina Garcia and Renee Nunez, killing them both. Nunez left behind four children.

Prosecutors said the plea deal was partially based on new findings that confirmed the victims' car was in the intersection during a red light. Prosecutors also said traces of THC (marijuana) were found in the victim driver's system alcohol in the passenger's system.

As a result, Schroeder was sentenced to 90 days in jail and given 5 years probation for the DUI. She must also surrender her driver's license for 90 days.
