3 units damaged in Mill Creek apartment fire

MILL CREEK, Wash. - Three apartment units were damaged and several people were displaced from their residences after an early morning fire at a Mill Creek apartment complex.
Crews responded to the scene, in the 1200 block of Mill Creek Boulevard, just after 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a blaze, said Autumn Waite of Snohomish County Fire District 7.
Smoke was visible from first-floor apartment when firefighters arrived, and the building already had been evacuated. There were no injuries.
After the flames were extinguished, investigators found fire damage to one unit and smoke damage to two others.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

My cousin lives there, they have remodeled and updated the place...She loves it there...
Please f'ing kill me if I ever have to live in another apt or condo.
I actually live in the building that caught fire and despite it being apartment living, I love my home. I have never had a maintenance issue that wasn't taken care of right away and I have never seen "drug deals" going down. My cars have never been messed with, I have friendly neighbors and I don't have any mold issues. Perhaps their management has gotten better over the years.
With that said, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families that have been displaced and thank God that our home wasn't affected by anything other than a little stench from the smoke. I'm very thankful for the Snohomish County Fire Department for their quick response, kindness and hard work on a cold rainy morning.
I agree with HallandOates. The Mill was a terrible place to live. They advertise their "luxury" apartments but the apartments are far from luxury. I lived there in 2005 and our apartment was really outdated and there was mold in the cupboards. Maintenance was a joke and when we complained to the office they just shrugged it off. I never witnessed drug dealing but really the Mill is one step up from living in the ghetto. Terrible management.Â
@Shawn Thomas A horrible place is right. We lived there for 1 year and that was enough to move.  The apartments were horribly outdated with thin to no insulation, cheap windows, cheap applicances, and poor ventilation. We awoke to pools upon pools of water on our window sills. This continued even when the windows were replaced. We had lots of mold problems too due to the water inside the apartment.  Management and maintenance were a joke.  The owners I believe live out of state in Florida or California. There is no vested interest in the apartment except to take your harden earned money for a pit of place to call home. Â
Cars do get stolen there as I experienced this myself. Dog poop everywhere. You can hear your neighbor quite well also due to the little if any insulation. They charge you for everything also. They rent you an apartment at "market rate (wink wink) and then tack on additional fees (covered parking, etc.).Â
Never in a million years would I rent from that wretched place. The "newer" (renovated) apartments are nothing more than superficial veneer. You can put lipstick on a pig but at the end of the day it's still a pig!!!Â
My elderly parents lived (and died) at the Mill for 8 years and they loved it. I was there hundreds of times and I never saw a cop, or a drug dealer, or heard about any thefts or burglaries. And whenever my parents had a maintenance issue it was taken care of immediately. The apartments are large, have fireplaces, washer/dyers. balconies etc. They had a 1000 sq ft, top floor, corner, 2 bed 2 bath with vaulted ceilings and paid about $1000 a month, (2 years ago). You won't find a better deal, or a better location in Mill Creek.
@Asa Do you work for the Mill's management? Sounds like you're quite the advocate. We had a wretched experience there.Â
I used to live in the Parkwood apartments further up Mill Creek Blvd. for years, and drove by The Mill all the time. There WERE cops there frequently, and a friend who used to live there had her car stolen while she lived there. This is one of the last places I would live, and I love Mill Creek.Â
@Asa I can think of a lot better apartments in Mill Creek. I can name several complex's off the top of my head that are 100 times better than The Mill within a 2 or 3 mile radius.Â
I feel bad for the residents. We rented from "The Mill" apartments and it was the WORST experience we have ever had. Constant drug dealing, cars being stolen from the parking lots, and police cars in the parking lots responding to complaints/thefts. Â
The apartments also were absolutely horrible. Management was also horrible. Bubble gum was used by maintenance to fix the constant broken items. Mold was everywhere in our apartment due to poor insulation, cheap windows, and a lack of ventilation. Avoid the Mill at all cost!Â
