TACOMA - A 53-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday in Tacoma.

Police were called to the scene, near South 64th Street and Pacific Avenue in Tacoma, at about 12:25 a.m.

The victim was Ronald McKellar, 53, of Tacoma, according to the Pierce County medical examiner.

Officers said no one saw the accident, but people heard it. One of them went out to the street to see what happened and thought they spotted clothing on the pavement. It turned out to be McKellar's body.

An investigation continues into the hit-and-run accident.
