Crashes claim lives in Skagit, Stevens counties
MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) - The Washington State Patrol says a motorcyclist from Mount Vernon was killed when his bike crossed the centerline and struck an SUV on State Route 9 in Skagit County.
The patrol says 62-year-old James A. Cress was dead at the scene of the accident about 3:40 this afternoon.
The patrol says Cress' 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was northbound when it struck the right side of a Jeep Cherokee.
In Eastern Washington, a Kettle Falls woman was fatally injured in a three-car accident on U.S. Highway 395 near Colville.
The state patrol says 65-year-old Delia M. Nehl was driving a 2003 Buick when a Ford Explorer crossed the center line and the vehicles collided about 6:40 p.m. Friday.
Nehl's husband, 86-year-old August H. Nehl, was injured, as were the driver of the Explorer, 21-year-old Tashina L. Anderson, of Kettle Falls, and a 3-year-old child in Anderson's car.
A pickup also was struck by Anderson's vehicle, but the driver was not injured.
