Police: Extra patrol proving effective at 2 Tacoma schools
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Police here have stepped up their presence at Lincoln and Mount Tahoma high schools after separate shootings last weekend in which teens were killed.

On Tuesday the Tacoma School District announced two off-duty officers have been stationed on the campuses of the two schools and two traffic officers have been put on patrol at each school and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Police and school officials decided to increase police visibility at the schools after two shootings at parties overnight Saturday. Police believe people involved in the killings attend the schools or know students who do.
