I-5 tanker crash, fire, kills 1 in Oregon
By Associated Press
WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police said one person died in a tanker truck crash and fire on Interstate 5 near Wilsonville.
The freeway was closed in both directions for more than five hours after the accident at about 3 a.m. Sunday because of smoke. State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings said investigators have tentatively identified the victim but were withholding identification until relatives could be notified. The fire burned so intensely that Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters could not approach it. The truck was hauling two trailers of petroleum-based material, possibly diesel. |
