SEATTLE -- Two people were injured, one critically, when their car crashed into a tree in South Seattle Wednesday night, according to police.

Investigators said the car was headed south on Rainier Avenue South when it crashed into a tree next to the Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church near 42nd Avenue South at 9:15 p.m.

The 16-year-old driver suffered life-threatening head injuries. The 23-year-old passenger had a broken arm.

Police said alcohol and a possible struggle inside the car may have contributed to the crash.
