OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Thurston County's insurer million has abandoned further appeals of a jury's 2006 verdict that three former county prosecutors were forced to endure a hostile work environment and suffered retaliation after they complained about their treatment.

The Olympian said the insurer has cut a check for $3.475 million.

According to testimony at trial, from 2000 to 2002, the three women were subjected to sexualized behavior at work, hostility and not getting the same advancement opportunities as men.

The state Court of Appeals in November upheld the jury's original $1.52 million award along with $1.45 million in attorneys fees through trial.

But with interest and further attorneys fees as a result of the county's appeal of the verdict, the final award ballooned to $3.475 million. That was according to Tacoma lawyer Stephanie Bloomfield, who represented the three former prosecutors.

The three former prosecutors awards were: Vonda Sargent, $287,062; Aurdrey Broyles, $772,772; and Susan Sackett-DanPullo, $687,801.
