Man with '666' tattoo robs espresso stand
By Shomari Stone
TACOMA - A Java Girls espresso stand near Tacoma is the latest target of an armed robbery in the Puget Sound region - and the whole incident was caught on surveillance video.
Kiley Ross, the Java Girl employee who was on duty during the Saturday evening robbery, was still shaken up hours after the robbery. She says the man pointed a gun at her, demanded money and then drove off with a fistful of cash that she grabbed from the till. Ross' nightmarish experience began when two men pulled up to the Java Girls drive-through window in a black sedan at about 5 p.m. on Saturday. The driver covered his face with a hood and ordered two frappachinos from Ross. She walked to the window, and that's when the robber pulled out a silver gun, pushed the car door open and demanded money. Ross screamed for dear life. Then she jumped back, rushed to the register, pulled out more than $600 in cash and handed it to him. He drove off, leaving Ross scared, alone and pushing the panic button for help. "I am still really shaken up. I have never seen a gun, let alone one pointed at me," Ross said during an interview with KOMO News a little later. "It's really scary." Ross was understandably confused, disoriented and in shock during the robbery. "I was just really scared," she remembers. "I didn't know if he was going to just rob me or if he was going to rob and shoot. At first I didn't think about - he was robbing. I thought, 'There is a gun pointed at me.'" She described the suspect as a white male with a skinny build, in his early 20s, and bald, with a big "666" tattoo on the back of his head. He also has a tear drop tattoo on his left eye, she said. Ross hopes someone recognizes the man on the surveillance video. "I hope they catch him," she says. "That was really scary. I don't want that to happen to anybody else." Investigators don't believe the latest robbery is connected to a string of eight others around King County in recent weeks. But the robber may be a copy-cat, or he may decide to hit another stand. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office wants to hear from anyone who recognizes the suspect in the surveillance video. The number to call is (253) 591-5959. |
