OLALLA, Wash. - An alleged drunken driver who crashed through a private property fence in Kitsap County told police he thought he was close to his house - in Tacoma.

"He thought he was just down the street from his house in Tacoma," a Kitsap County Sheriff's deputy wrote in a report.

The 32-year-old man allegedly drove a white Dodge pickup through a cedar fence in the 14000 block of Starr Road in Olalla on Friday night.

The area where he crashed is actually about 15 miles north of Tacoma, on the other side of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

According to reports, the property owners confronted the man and convinced him to give up the keys as he tried to back out.

A breath analysis at the Kitsap County Jail showed a blood-alcohol level of .220 and .224, more than twice the legal limit of .08, the report said.

Deputies arrested the man on suspicion of drunken driving, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. It was the man's third DUI arrest, reports said.
