SEATTLE (AP) - The King County Sheriff's Office says a nattily dressed, grandfatherly vending machine bandit has been robbing Coca Cola machines at SeaTac.
Sgt. John Urquhart said each loss is worth several hundred dollars and the total loss is believed to be several thousand dollars.
The thefts have occurred since last June at the Doubletree Hotel at 18740 International Blvd., the sheriff's office said, and the robber manages to open the vending machines without damaging them and takes the money from the cash box.
According to Urquhart, no one is aware of the thefts until the machines are opened routinely by technicians.
The sheriff's office describes the thief as 60 to 70 years old. It says he wears glasses, a dress shirt, tie and overcoat. It says he was recently photographed as he made off with cash from one of the machines.
