SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The father of an Oregon woman accused of shooting her three children 25 years ago, killing one of them, on a road outside Springfield is offering $50,000 for information leading to his daughter's release.
Wesley Frederickson operates a Web page devoted to proving his daughter, Diane Downs, is innocent. He posted a notice offering the $50,000 reward Wednesday.
Downs has maintained her innocence for 25 years, most recently at her first parole hearing. The Oregon Board of Parole deferred parole consideration after Downs' rambling testimony in which she claimed, among other things, that someone else shot her children as part of a conspiracy involving the district attorney.
Frederickson told KVAL News no one has come forward yet. If someone does, the money would not be awarded until Downs is released from prison.
He is also offering a $25,000 reward for the conviction of a man he and Downs claim confessed to killing Downs' daughter.
