4 injured in head-on crash near Renton, DUI suspected

RENTON, Wash. - Four people were injured when a suspected drunk driver crossed the center line and slammed head-on into another vehicle Sunday evening near Renton, the Washington State Patrol reports.

State troopers responded to the scene, the Renton Issaquah Road just west of 151st Ave. SE, at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a serious crash.

Arriving there, they found two wrecked vehicles - a 2006 Lexus and a 1995 Honda Accord - with four injured occupants. All were rushed to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver of the Lexus, a 27-year-old Issaquah man, was heading east on Renton Issaquah Road as the Honda was approaching from the west. The Lexus then veered across the center line and crashed head-on into the Honda.

Three people were riding in the Honda - a 30-year-old woman and a 48-year-old woman, both from Renton, and a 2-year-old girl. All were taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The driver of the Lexus was taken to Overlake Hospital. He is under investigation for DUI and vehicular assault.
