4-year-old Seattle girl, pilot killed in plane crash at Ore. paper mill

TOLEDO, Ore. - A 4-year-old girl from Seattle and a pilot were both killed Saturday afternoon when a small plane crashed in the parking lot of the Georgia-Pacific paper mill, Toledo police said. A third person was injured in the crash.

The girl's family was traveling from Newport, Ore., to Seattle when the plane went down.

Officials said the small, single-engine plane was flying east when it crashed at 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the Toledo paper mill's parking lot. According to the Federal Aviation Administration the plane was a homebuilt RV-10 plane.

The pilot, Douglas Nebert, 51, of Newport, was flying with his step-daughter, April Gleason, 34, and her 4-year-old daughter Zoey Wahl.

Both Douglas Nebert and his granddaughter, Zoey, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Gleason was flown by air ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis; officials haven’t released her condition.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation into the crash.

Officials will release the names of those involved in the crash once the families have been notified.
