Teen in serious condition after crashing into bus
REDMOND, Wash. -- A 16-year-old girl who crashed the car she was driving into a school bus was upgraded to serious condition at Harborview Medical Center, hospital officials said. However, she remains in the intensive care unit.

Sheriff spokesman John Urquhart said the girl was driving south on Sahalee Way when she drifted across the center line and crashed into an oncoming school bus Tuesday afternoon.

The girl who was driving the car was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The driver of the Lake Washington School District bus was not injured, and there were no students on board.

Police blocked traffic in the 4500 block Sahalee Way for several hours while investigators gathered evidence at the scene of the crash.

It was not clear what caused the girl to lose control of her car.
