Man killed in crash near Wash. coast
OCEAN SHORES, Wash. - A car plunged down an embankment near the Washington coast early Sunday, killing one passenger and injuring two others.

The driver, Joseph Hudson, 38, of Forks, was not injured. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree vehicular homicide. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Killed in the crash was Tommy G. Underwood, 43, of Taholah. He died at the scene.

A 33-year-old Hoquiam man and a 28-year-old Forks woman suffered serious injuries in the wreck. They were both airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

State Patrol troopers responded to the scene, on State Route 109 about 15 miles north of Ocean Shores, at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers said the 1993 Subaru Legacy was heading north on the two-lane highway when it swerved into the southbound lane then back into the northbound lane before veering off the roadway to the right.

The vehicle plunged over an embankment, rolled and came to rest in the yard of a home.

None of the passengers were wearing seat belts.
