149 pounds of B.C. Bud seized at border
BLAINE, Wash. (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents in Sumas discovered 149 pounds of marijuana and arrested one person in the latest big border drug bust in northwest Washington.
The Border Patrol says agents found three duffel bags filled with marijuana - worth an estimated $750,000 - early Wednesday morning in a wooded area near the U.S.-Canadian border.
Agents searched the area and arrested 27-year-old Eddie C. Rivera-Sanchez, of Mission, B.C., and booked him into the Whatcom County Jail for investigation of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police also arrested one person on the Canadian side of the border.
Two other drug seizures involving marijuana and Ecstasy pills bring the value of drugs seized in the past month in the Sumas sector to an estimated $6.5 million.
