Local TV host aiming for a new life in politics

John Curley

After 15 years, John Curley is no longer 'telling your stories.' Instead, he could soon be listening to more of them as a city councilman.

Curley, host of Evening Magazine, taped his last broadcast Wednesday.

"Have you ever had to sign off for the last time from your own show?" he said.

Curley said he choked up several times during the taping, "I couldn't make it through the whole show."

While the official word from the station is that Curley is leaving to pursue his auction and charity work, Curley said, "I'll be pursuing other options....like unemployment."

Still he may ask voters to help him land a new job.

"I plan to run for Sammamish City Council," he said in an interview with KOMO 1000 Newsradio.

Curley took over Evening Magazine hosting duties in 1995.

KING-TV has yet to publicly name a permanent replacement.
