Severed foot found at Kitsap construction site
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- Human remains found at a construction site near here are from one person, investigators said Saturday.
Kitsap County sheriff spokesman Scott Wilson said the medical examiner is still working to determine how the person died and identify the remains.
The investigation began June 6 when construction workers found a severed inside a hiking boot at the site near Bethel Road SE and Lund Avenue.
A state crime lab team was brought in to help search the area, and several human bones were found over the next several days as parts of the site were excavated.
Officials said they are treating the death as a homicide, but they have not said exactly what led them to believe a murder was committed.
