EDMONDS, Wash. - A man was found floating in the waters of Puget Sound off Edmonds on Thursday night, and police were able to identify him hours later.
The man, who remains in intensive care at an Edmonds hospital, was seen floating face-down in the water by a passer-by, who then called 911.
Police responded to the scene, just off the shoreline in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue, just before 10 p.m., said Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Donald F. Anderson.
Officers waded into the water and pulled the man onto the beach and immediately began CPR. Edmonds fire and medic personnel arrived on scene shortly after and took over life-saving efforts, then transported the man to Stevens Hospital.
The man had a wallet but no identification on his person, and it took several hours to establish his identity, Anderson said.
Police said he is a 61-year-old Everett man, but his name is not being made public.
There were no immediately observed injuries or other signs of trauma to the man, and it is unknown how he ended up in the water, Anderson said.
The Coast Guard responded to the area to ensure that there was not an overturned vessel in the water, but nothing was found.
