Teen murdered in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- Police here are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old man early Monday morning.

Officers were called to the area of North 8th and Fir Streets around 1:20 a.m. for reports of a gunshot. As they were going to the scene, reports came in of a car crash nearby in the 700 block of North 8th Street.

When they arrived, the found an SUV that had crashed into the side of a home. The driver had been shot and was dead in the car.

Police don't have much more to go on but say they believe the teen was murdered.

No one was in the home at the time of the crash.
