Man in Yelm hit-and-run was rushing dog to vet clinic
OLYMPIA, Wash. - An Olympia man is accused of causing an accident while rushing his dog to veterinary clinic.

Sometime late Tuesday evening, Robert Ottoboni's dog was struck in front of his home, the Olympian newspaper reported. Troopers say Ottoboni was racing the dog to a veterinarian clinic at over 100 mph on the Yelm Highway around 7:30 when he lost control and veered into oncoming traffic.

He collided with an Isuzu Amigo and then struck a fence in a parking lot. Meanwhile, the Amigo ran off the road, struck a metal fence and rolled over onto its roof.

A 4-year-old boy in the Amigo suffered serious facial injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The 30-year-old driver and a 10-year-old passenger had minor injuries and were both taken to an Olympia hospital for treatment. Troopers note that all three people in the Amigo were wearing proper restraints.

Troopers say Ottoboni ran from the scene, but was captured a short time later at a nearby veterinarian clinic.

Wednesday, Ottoboni appeared in Thurston County Superior Court Wednesday and was ordered held on $40,000 bail for investigation of felony hit-and-run and vehicular assault.
