Motorcyclist killed in early morning crash

STANWOOD, Wash. - A 28-year-old motorcyclist died in a roadside ditch after a predawn crash Thursday near Stanwood.

Officers were called to the accident scene on Happy Hollow Road near 48th Avenue West just before 4 a.m.

Investigators determined that the motorcycle clipped the mirror of an oncoming vehicle, then struck a pole and landed in the ditch.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured, and no citations were issued.

Detectives said the motorcycle appeared to be speeding at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist's name and hometown were not immediately available.
