DES MOINES, Wash. -- The Tukwila man who died Sunday afternoon while diving in waters off Redondo Beach has been identified.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office said 57-year-old Karl Anquoe died of an air embolism in a diving accident.

Officers and medics responded to a report of a diver in distress at about 4:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they learned that the diver and his diving partner were in about 80 feet of water at the time of the accident.

The surviving partner noticed the man in distress and got another diver to help. They were able to get the victim to the surface and bring him on shore, but he died at the scene, Des Moines police said.
