Montana woman dies after getting shot by hitchhiker in Wash.
YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - A Montana woman has died from injuries suffered when she was shot by a hitchhiker in central Washington's Yakima County.
The Yakima Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Sheryl Huntley of Thompson Falls, Mont., died at Yakima Regional Hospital Wednesday afternoon from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Stephen Harwood, 34, also of Thompson Falls, Mont., suffered a gunshot wound to the hand but was treated and released from the hospital.
The Sheriff's Office says in a statement that the couple had picked up a hitchhiker at a rest area on Interstate 82 early Wednesday morning, then were robbed and shot.
