PUYALLUP, Wash. -- If the signs for Nearly Naked Fireworks don't stop traffic, the women waving them most likely will.

The bikini-clad women stand roadside in an attempt to lure customers. But the high heels that lead to the racks of rockets are drawing red glares and a lot of stares from the neighbors.

"It's kind of like the coffee shops -- 'stop by and get a peek,'" said nearby resident Jim Harding.

"I have a family, and we think it's immoral," said Stephen Adams, another resident.

But owner Rikk Martin doesn't understand why people are so fired up over his marketing strategy.

"My girls are no less clothed than the women laying out at the park," he said.

No, it's not the same, according to resident Jennifer Adams.

"I think it's disgusting and degrading to the women that work there," she said.

But Tiffany Shull, who works at the stand, says she doesn't feel degraded.

"I am a mom, a wife and a student," she said.

Shull sees nothing wrong with baring much of her body to sell sparklers. In fact, she brings her son to work with her -- something local resident Sandy Klem can't understand.

Klem says her son was tantalized by the stand's signs.

"Says they wanted to check out the nearly naked stand," she said. "I wouldn't want to bring my kids anywhere near it."

The city of Puyallup can't censor or regulate the risque stand. Nudity is prohibited, but teeny bikinis are not.

"It's not 'Naked Fireworks;' it's 'Nearly Naked.' We're just showing our patriotism," said employee Karie Jones.

With all the exposure, the fireworks stand's owner says he plans to open additional shops next summer.
