Deputies: We opened fire after armed man refused to cooperateBy KOMO Staff
ARLINGTON, Wash. -- Investigators here are looking into a deputy-involved shooting that left one man injured on Thursday night.
Snohomish County deputies responded to a domestic violence call to a home in the 11000 block of 228th Street Northeast around 9:45 p.m. A woman had called 911 and said she was being threatened by a man with a gun. Deputies arrived to find the man standing on the porch. The man was armed with a handgun and refused to cooperate, deputies said. Two deputies opened fire, injuring the man. He was rushed to an area hospital, then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. The unidentified man's condition is not known. The relationship between the man and the threatened woman was not immediately clear, detectives said, but deputies had responded to the home on domestic violence calls in the past. The two deputies who opened fire have been placed on administrative leave as is standard procedure in deputy-involved shootings. One of the deputies is a 38 year old and a 6-year veteran of the force. The second deputy is 32 years old and joined the force in 2007. The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating. |
