WOODINVILLE, Wash. - A King County sheriff's deputy shot a man to death Saturday night near Woodinville after responding to a domestic violence call.

Sgt. John Urquhart of the King County Sheriff's Office said he did not have details of the incident, which remains under investigation.

The shooting happened at about 9 p.m. Urquhart said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, but he had no information about what led to the shooting.

A witness who was at a residence across the street, in the 16000 block of NE Woodinville-Duvall Road, said she heard the shots and thought they were fireworks at first.

The witness said other neighbors heard the deputy yell "put it down," then two shots.

Immediately afterward, multiple patrol cars and medics converged on the scene. The witness said she saw a man on the ground being given chest compressions.

"We walked down to the end of the driveway just as they covered him with a blanket and blocked off the scene with a tarp," the witness said.

Investigators were still on the scene more than an hour later, the witness said.

Urquhart said he will release further details about the officer-involved shooting as soon as they are available.
