SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane police officer was treated at a hospital Tuesday morning for minor injuries suffered while arresting a suspected car thief.

Police say the driver attempted to flee about two o'clock, striking patrol cars and then fighting with officers. The 21-year-old was jailed for investigation of felony assaults on officers and possessing stolen property.

It was the second car theft arrest this morning in Spokane. Police also caught a 26-year-old after the stolen car was stopped and he led officers on a foot chase through yards and alleys.

Police report more than 30 vehicles have been stolen in Spokane County in the past five days.
