Lost Auburn teen found safe after night out in forest

NEAR MT. ADAMS, Wash. - A 14-year-old boy who became separated from his family and spent the night out in the forest near Mount Adams was found safe Tuesday morning.

Someone found the boy, Austin Mills of Auburn, Wash., on a road and drove him to the Mt. Adams Ranger Station in Trout Lake, Wash. about 11 a.m., according to Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox.

He was reported to be in good condition.

He had called 911 using a cell phone Monday night after becoming separated from his family in the Goose Lake area. Though he was lost, he told dispatchers he was on a gravel road and not hurt. Search and rescue crews continued to look for him Tuesday morning before word spread that he had been found.

It was not immediately clear who found him and drove him to the ranger station, Cox said.
