A 58-year-old Seattle woman was killed late Sunday when she drove off the road and flipped her SUV in Thurston County.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Lewis said troopers were dispatched to the scene on State Route 8 just after 11 p.m.
The woman was driving a Honda CRV when she drifted toward the shoulder and then veered the opposite direction and hit a rock culvert. The force of the impact cause the vehicle to roll, ejecting the woman who was driving.
Lewis said the woman was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. She was the only one in the vehicle.
The cause of the crash was under investigation, but Lewis said it did not appear that alcohol was a factor. The westbound lanes of SR 8 near Summit Lake were closed for several hours while troopers worked to clear the wreck.
The name of the woman who was killed has not been released.
