TACOMA, Wash. -- A rendering truck lost its load and scattered animal parts all over the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 on Monday night.

Crews said the stench was horrendous.

Troopers said no one was injured and no other cars were involved in the incident, but expected the cleanup to take several hours.

The spilled load triggered a 3-mile backup in the northbound lanes to 56th Street, and traffic was moving slowly near the scene in the southbound lanes for some time after the crash.
