Seattle athlete injured in attack at gay sporting event
SEATTLE -- A runner from Seattle competing at an international gay sporting event in Denmark has been injured in an apparent bombing at the stadium where he was expecting to compete.
Seattle FrontRunners says one of its members, Dean Koga, was getting ready to run in the 4x200-meter relay at the OutGames when someone in the stands threw three small explosives onto the track late Tuesday.
Koga was hit with shrapnel and is recovering from surgery to remove the material from his hand.
Police in Copenhagen have arrested a 31-year-old Dane they believe threw the explosives, and investigators are calling this a hate crime.
