Motorcycle crash leaves 1 dead, disrupts rail service
SEATTLE -- Investigators say two motorcyclists may have been speeding before a crash that left one person dead and other injured early Wednesday morning.

Seattle police said the two men were riding their motorcycles just before 2 a.m. when they hit something and lost control.

One of the men was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene. The other man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries.

The crash happened in the 9000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Way South, and forced officials to suspend Link light rail service between the Othello Station in Rainier Valley for several hours.

Debris from the crash was strewn across a large area, and one of the wrecked motorcycles was on the train tracks.

Rail passengers were taken around the area on buses while officers collected evidence at the crash scene.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicates the men may have been speeding.

The two men are members of a motorcycle club, and friends at the scene said both are safe riders.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released.
