SEATTLE - A 48-year-old Seattle man was killed when the car he was driving flipped over a guardrail at high speed as he exited Interstate 5 early Tuesday, State Patrol troopers said.

The driver, identified as Daniel Lane, suffered multiple broken bones and loss of blood in the crash. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died from his injuries.

State troopers said Lane was driving along I-5 at high speed in a gray 2005 Nissan Altima when he suddenly took the Michigan Street off-ramp. He lost control, flipped over the guardrail and landed in the trees just off the shoulder.

Troopers and medics arrived at the scene at about 1:50 a.m., where they found Lane trapped inside the vehicle.

He was removed, treated at the scene and taken to Harborview.

No one else was in the car, and no other vehicles were hit in the crash.
